I’ve got a good musical memory, and I can recognize when somebody is capable of greatness. I can hear it. When you’re outside a person and have some objectivity, you can guide them to doing what they’re good at. I can listen to them for 10 minutes and say, “Stop doing what you’re doing, and go back to what you were doing five minutes ago.” I don’t know if I’m that good at it, but I’m better at that than anything else. Sometimes I look around, and I’m in the room with all these great guys and wonder why on earth they’re listening to me with my limited skills. But then we go back and hear it, and it does sound great. I guess everyone has a knack for something.
