EVERYONE has a story to tell, and a unique voice with which to tell it. The trick is to uncover your own unique voice in order to tell that story with a truth that connects in an original way.
In this 3-day workshop at the Cafe at Thistle Farms Education Space in Nashville, TN, Mary will work with a small class 16 students of all levels to help them clarify the aim of their writing and discover their own, unique voice.
Mary will begin the class each morning with an inspiring conversation that will give you new tools to put in your songwriting toolbox. After that we’ll get down to the business of writing and working on your songs. You’ll be able to share whatever you’re working on—even if it’s just lyrics—and as a group we’ll offer support. Mary will suggest how to make a song stronger, find the melody to support it, and how to get to your truth and unique voice.
In addition to the intensive days of songwriting, you’ll enjoy:
- One-on-one time with Mary
- Feedback on your songs from Mary
- Special guest artists and songwriters
- Opening night dinner at a Nashville home with Mary
- A closing night dinner together at Thistle Cafe
- …and more!
After three days of immersing yourself in the creative world of songwriting with like-minded souls, you will leave with a new community of friends, a support system, a songwriting toolbox filled with tools, and a strong sense of your writer’s voice that will let you turn your songs into shining reflections of your own soul.
Here’s just an example of the response Mary has received from her students:
I always knew Mary Gauthier was a passionate songwriter, but she is also an incredible teacher. Generous, open, and willing to nurture songwriters of all stripes as they hone their craft. In the Performing Songwriter workshop, as Mary helped us seek out emotional honesty and clarity, I witnessed transformations not just of songs, but of souls. Before long, we were calling her ‘the song whisperer!’
